THREADS

I remember being an angry and rebellious teenager and my mother telling me that she was not given a manual on how to be a parent, and that stuck with me, throughout my life. As I got older, she shared her experiences as did my aunt hers. It was interesting how two children, with the same mother, had different recollections. Both lived through World War II and those fearful times have shaped their life experiences and how they handled them.

We also hear so much these days, about transgenerational trauma, which is helping us to understand how our parent’s ability to parent was affected by their own upbringing and by the social, geopolitical, and cultural conditions of the time. The same could be said for your great grandparents and beyond. Systemic Constellations is based on the idea that individuals are profoundly influenced by their family systems and that unresolved issues or traumas within the family can affect current relationships and behaviour. It is thought that understanding and creating movement with what feels stuck or hidden within a family constellation, helps heal the patterns of the past and promotes reconciliation. Indeed, indigenous people believe that if we work to heal the line of the previous seven generations, we will strengthen the next seven generations to come. Bert Hellinger, the father of Constellation work, observed while working with the Zulu people in South Africa, that if a member of the tribe committed a serious crime, the tribe would see it as a problem for all of them. They would meet to discuss what had led to this situation and how they could help heal the perpetrator and in doing so, heal the illness of spirit that had infected the tribe. As a student of this work, I have learned to have more understanding and compassion for my parent’s and grandparent’s circumstances. They had to cope with the times they lived in, and what shaped their lives. Some rose above difficult circumstances and others didn't have the support or capacity to do so. There’s a great little series on Netflix now, called Another Self, which explores how the experiences of past generations impact lives in the present and there are some amazing books out there that cover this subject, so let me recommend these three to you:

  • It didn't start with you by Mark Wolynn (This booked is referenced in Another Self)

  • Connected Fates, Separate Destinies by Marine Selenee

  • Break the Cycle by Dr Mariel Buqué

  • And of course, the works of Bert Hellinger

LET’S GET METAPHYSICAL!

What is Metaphysics? Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy that looks at the fundamental nature of reality, existence, and being. It explores questions about the nature of reality, causality, existence, time, space, and the relationship between mind and matter, by delving into abstract and speculative realms beyond the physical sciences.

THE ALCHEMICAL MARRIAGE

This is a concept in alchemy which represents the union of opposites, often symbolized by the union of the masculine and feminine principles. It's a metaphorical and symbolic idea rather than a literal marriage. An illustration of this the Vesica Pisces, a symbol in sacred geometry formed by the intersection of two circles with the same radius, overlapping in such a way that the centre of each circle lies on the circumference of the other. It resembles a fish or almond shape.

In various spiritual traditions, the Vesica Pisces symbolizes unity, harmony, and the interplay of opposites. It's often interpreted as a symbol of the divine feminine and divine masculine energies coming together in balance and harmony. Additionally, it has been used to represent the intersection of heaven and earth, as well as the creation of the universe.

TAROT INSPIRATION FOR APRIL 2024

THIS MONTH’S CARD: THE PRINCESS OF WANDS

When our card for April shows up in a reading, she can represent children or an aspect of our inner child that wants to be recognised. She is the earthy aspect of fire, the fire of spring and new beginnings to revitalise life. The vanquished tiger at her feet, represents how our limiting self-beliefs can be overcome by replacing fear with joy and optimism. She asks you to welcome new opportunities with excitement, and a sense of adventure, which the feathers in her hair represent as they fly out before her. Now would be a great time to explore learning opportunities and to think about becoming a student in a subject that excites you. Expect messages or news related to your passions or ambitions, encouraging you to pursue them with optimism and courage.

RUNE CRAFT

The Runes are an ancient form of oracle divination that were famously used by the Scandinavian Vikings to help them find answers and guidance in their daily lives. Traditionally carved on bone or wood, they would be thrown and interpretated by the village shaman. I do love the Runes and am a big fan of Ralph Blums, Book of Runes. This is one I drew for April guidance.

The rune Suwelo represents Wholeness, Life Force and the energy of the Sun and has no reverse. When drawn, it symbolizes success, clarity, energy, and guidance. In divination, it can signify victory, enlightenment, or a favourable outcome. It's associated with positive energy and progress. There is, however, a need to be cautious. If you have people around who draw too much of your energy, limit the time you spend with them. This is not a time to let your ego run riot, but to let right action flow through you. In loving, remember it is love that loves through us.  There is a prayer to the Sun and to the spirit of Wholeness that I personally love doing each day.

“You who are the source of all power,

Whose rays illuminate the world,

Illuminate also my heart.

So that it too can do your work”

MERCURY RETROGRADE:

1ST TO 25TH APRIL

Mercury retrogrades happen three times a year when it 'appears' as if the planet Mercury is moving backward in its orbit, for approximately three weeks. During this period, communication, technology, and travel tends to be disrupted, leading to misunderstandings, delays, and glitches.

This first Mercury retrograde of 2024, occurs in the fiery sign of Aries, which tests our patience on all levels. Breathe and count to ten, as simple disagreements become destructive if not diffused in time. Past hurts surface and niggles can just blow up out of nothing. Projects you're rushing to finish can face delays if you hastily overlook important details before signing off.  This is a good time however, for precision or detailed work, such as, architecture, editing, design, and jewellery making etc. Here Mercury becomes retroGreat (my term), as an eye for detail brings appreciation and success.
